In order to avoid this, they have to take fake dreams or use the one provide by the dreams hunters. One young dreamer will see is life shaken by a mysterious vision. L'équilibre entre leur monde et celui des songes est rompu. Ne pouvant pas rêver les gens deviennent apathiques et tristes. Afin d'éviter cela ils doivent recourir à des rêves artificiels ou se procurer ceux fournis par les chasseurs de songes. Une jeune songeuse verra son destin bouleversé par une vision.
