Inspired by a story by Kastoway; Hourglass surrounds the Rogers family 16 years prior to the actual story, along with a subplot surrounding the aftermath. Frank, a future alcoholic and abuser, is a caring father who wants to protect his family. Connie, a future widow, is a productive mother who will do the best for her family. While the anti-hero of the original story may still be very young, there's much to uncover about his story and answer every question of 'why'.
